In March 2025, construction output within the Euro Area experienced a 1.1% decline compared to the same period the previous year. This followed a revised decrease of 0.6% in February. The downturn in March was driven primarily by a continued decrease in building construction, which fell by 2.9%, compared to a 3.1% reduction in February. However, this decline was partially counterbalanced by a recovery in civil engineering, which grew by 0.8% after a 3.2% contraction, and an increase in specialized construction activities, which saw a 1% rise following a 0.6% decrease. On a month-to-month basis, construction output edged up by 0.1% in March, recovering slightly from a 1.2% dip in February.
