Lebanon Inflation Eases to Over Five-Year Low

Lebanon's annual inflation rate declined to 13.0% in April 2025, marking its lowest level in over five years, down from 14.2% in March. This deceleration was primarily influenced by a reduced pace in price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (20.9% compared to 21.4% in the previous month), housing and utilities (15.8% down from 16.5%), and restaurants and hotels (14.9% compared to 17.3%). Moreover, transportation costs decreased by 1.4%, following a 2.5% increase in the prior period. Nevertheless, the expense associated with recreation and culture saw an uptick, rising to 4.8% from 4.5%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a 0.7% increase, compared to a 0.4% rise in March.
