In April 2025, Iceland experienced a decline in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which fell to 3.3% from the previous month's 3.7%. This is the lowest level recorded since November 2024. The reduction in unemployment was due to a decrease of 1,000 jobless individuals, bringing the total number to 7,700. Among these, 4,400 were men and 3,300 were women. Notably, the youth unemployment rate, which pertains to job seekers aged 16-24, significantly dropped to 7.2% from 12.5% in March. Conversely, overall employment saw a reduction of 2,700, moving down to 224,500 in April 2025 from the revised figure of 227,200 the previous month. The labor force participation rate remained stable at 81.3%, consistent with the revised data from the prior month.
