In April 2025, retail sales in Estonia experienced a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, up from a 1.8% increase in March. This surge marks the fifth consecutive month of retail growth, achieving the highest rate in the current sequence. Sales showed notable acceleration in sectors like computers, peripheral units, and software; telecommunications equipment in specialized stores, which grew by 33.7% compared to 24.9% in March, and automotive fuel sales, which grew by 18.3% from the previous 14%. Additionally, there was a recovery in the trade of food, beverages, and tobacco in non-specialized stores, with sales at 0.5% compared to a decline of 6% previously. Similarly, textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods saw an improvement, recording a 2.5% increase versus a prior decrease of 1.4%. Although sectors such as audio and video equipment, hardware, paints, glass, and electrical household appliances continued to see declines, the reduction was less severe, at -1.6% compared to -4.6% last month. In contrast, sales conducted via mail order or the Internet decreased by 7.2%, down from a 1.6% increase. Month-on-month, retail activity rose by 1.6%, a significant deceleration from the previous period's 12.1% leap.
