Croatia Retail Sales Growth Reaches Four-Month High

In April 2025, retail sales in Croatia experienced a notable year-on-year increase of 4.9%, marking the fastest growth in four months and improving upon an upwardly revised 3.7% rise in March. This uptick was predominantly fueled by a robust resurgence in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which jumped by 4.9% after a decline of 2% in March. Additionally, the sector for automotive fuels and lubricants continued to show impressive growth, rising by 10.9% compared to 7.8% previously. Conversely, sales of non-food products witnessed a slower increase at 7.5% from 7.8%, and sales conducted online or via mail order also decelerated, growing by 5.3% compared to the earlier 7.2%. On a month-to-month basis, retail activity saw a 1.0% growth in April, the strongest monthly gain since September 2024, following a revised 0.8% increase in March.
