In May 2025, Thailand's business confidence indicator declined to 46.7 from 47.1 in April, reaching its lowest point since September 2024. This reduction highlights rising apprehensions in several critical areas. In particular, production saw a decrease (48.5 compared to 47.3 previously), significantly affected by reduced activity in the electric appliance and food sectors as orders were deferred while trading partners reassessed the influence of impending tariffs. Additionally, there was a continued decline in overall order books (44.4 down from 45.9) and in export conditions (43.7 over 46.4), and investment sentiment diminished further (51.2 down from 52.6). However, there was a slight improvement in employment sentiment (49.5 compared to 48.1), offering a minor boost. Looking ahead, the business sentiment index projected for the next three months showed a slight increase, rising to 49.4 from 48.9 in April 2025.
