Swedish Inflation Rate Lowest Since 2020

Sweden's annual inflation rate inched down to 0.2% in May 2025, falling short of market expectations of 0.4% and slightly lower than April's 0.3%, according to preliminary estimates. This represents the lowest inflation level since November 2020 and marks the tenth consecutive month that inflation has remained under the Riksbank's 2% target. In terms of monthly changes, consumer prices showed no growth, consistent with a marginal 0.1% increase in April. At the same time, the Consumer Price Index with a fixed interest rate (CPIF)—the Riksbank's preferred measure of inflation—increased by 2.3% year-over-year in May, maintaining the same pace as April and coming in below the projected 2.5% rise. Month-over-month, the CPIF saw a 0.1% increase, down from April's 0.2% rise.
