In April 2025, North Macedonia saw its trade deficit decrease to $311 million, compared to $331 million in April of the previous year. During this period, exports contracted by 1.2% year-on-year, reaching $754 million, while imports declined at a faster pace of 2.5%, totaling $1,066 million. For the cumulative period from January to April, the trade deficit amounted to $1,198 million. Exports for this timeframe fell by 2.5% from the same period the previous year, totaling $2,786 million. The decrease in exports was largely influenced by diminished sales in chemical and related products, which fell by 17.9%, miscellaneous finished goods by 7.8%, and products classified by material by 1.9%. On the other hand, imports saw a reduction of 1.99% to $3,984 million, primarily due to decreased purchases of raw materials excluding fuel, down by 7.5%, machinery and equipment by 5.8%, and products classified by material by 3.5%.
