Tunisia Inflation Drops to 4-Year Low

In May 2025, Tunisia's annual inflation rate decreased to 5.4%, down from 5.6% in April, achieving its lowest point since May 2021. This decline was primarily influenced by a reduced rate of price increases in food, with prices rising at 6.7% compared to April's 7.3%, as well as in the restaurant and hotel sector at 10.8% compared to 11.0%, and in leisure and culture, with a growth rate of 6.1% from 6.3%. Conversely, inflation for clothing and footwear remained steady at 9.4%, as did the education sector at 5.7%. However, communication expenses increased slightly to 1.0% from 0.9%, and the category for other goods and services saw a climb to 5.7% from 5.4%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in May, following a 0.6% rise in April.
