In April 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines rose slightly to 4.1%, up from 4.0% in the same month the previous year, marking its highest level since January 2025. The number of unemployed individuals increased marginally to 2.06 million, compared to 2.04 million in April 2024. However, employment figures also showed growth, with the number of employed persons climbing to 48.67 million from 48.35 million. The services sector continued to dominate employment distribution among major industries, encompassing 61.9% of the workforce, while agriculture accounted for 20.6% and industry 17.5%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate decreased to 63.7% from the 64.1% observed a year prior. On average, employed individuals worked 39.9 hours per week, which is slightly lower than the 40.5 hours reported in April 2024.
