Vietnam's industrial production experienced a growth of 9.4% year-on-year in May 2025, slightly down from an upwardly revised 9.6% increase in April. Although this marks the fourth consecutive month of growth, it is the most modest increase in this period. This slowdown is attributed to reduced output in electricity and gas supply, which grew by 3.3% compared to 4.2% in April. However, waste management and manufacturing sectors showed continued growth, with rates of 11.3% and 11% respectively, up from 10% and 10.8% in April. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying sector made a notable recovery, climbing to 1.2% from a previous contraction of -3.4%. On a monthly basis, industrial production rose by 4.3%, improving from 1.4% in the preceding month. Cumulatively, over the first five months of the year, industrial production increased by 8.8%.
