In the first quarter of 2025, the consumer confidence indicator in the Philippines declined to -13, down from -11.1 in the prior period. This dip in consumer sentiment is largely due to accelerated increases in the prices of goods and services, a decrease in personal income, and a reduction in job prospects. Examining the component indicators, there was an increase in pessimism concerning the country's economic condition, which declined to -33.9 from -24.2 in the fourth quarter. Conversely, perceptions of their family's financial situation improved slightly, rising to -6.1 from -9, and sentiments regarding family income turned positive, climbing to 1 from -0.1. Consumer expectations for the nation's economic outlook over the coming 12 months remained steady at 12.4, though this figure is marginally down from the 13.4 recorded in the first quarter of the previous year.
