In May 2025, Lithuania's annual inflation rate decelerated to 3.4%, a decline from the 4.1% observed in each of the prior two months. Price growth eased across several sub-indices: alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw a decrease to 8% from 8.3%, education dropped to 6.6% from 7%, and healthcare decreased to 5.1% from 5.6%. Similarly, food and non-alcoholic beverages fell to 4.4% from 5%, housing and utilities to 2.5% from 4.8%, and communication to 1.7% from 2.8%. Meanwhile, furnishings, household equipment, and routine home maintenance slightly rose to 1.1% from 0.9%. Deflation gathered pace within the clothing and footwear sector, falling to -2% from -0.6%, and transport prices decreased to -0.3% from a previous increase of 0.2%. In contrast, prices increased further for miscellaneous goods and services, rising to 3.9% from 3.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices declined by 0.3%, indicating the first decline since August 2024, following a 0.1% rise in the preceding month.
