Croatia Trade Gap Slightly Narrows in April

Croatia's trade deficit slightly decreased to EUR 1.8 billion in April 2025, a modest improvement from EUR 1.9 billion recorded in April of the previous year, as indicated by preliminary figures. During this month, exports experienced a 1.4% decline, totaling EUR 2 billion, while imports saw a more accelerated decline of 3.7%, amounting to EUR 3.8 billion. Despite this monthly improvement, the trade deficit for the period from January to April expanded to EUR 6.6 billion, compared to EUR 6.4 billion during the same timeframe last year. This increase occurred despite a 6.4% rise in exports, which reached EUR 8.1 billion, boosted by strong performance in sales to both EU (6.5%) and non-EU (6.4%) countries. Imports, meanwhile, increased by 4.8%, largely spurred by a notable upturn in purchases from non-EU nations (21.3%) alongside a modest growth in imports from EU countries (0.7%).
