In May 2025, North Macedonia experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate to 3.3%, up from 2.6% in April, marking the fastest increase observed over the past three months. This growth was primarily influenced by more rapid price hikes in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which surged to 4.9% from April's 1.5%, and in miscellaneous goods and services, which increased to 3.9% from 2.7%. These trends were somewhat mitigated by a sharper decline in transport prices, dropping to -7.0% from -1.7%, and a deceleration in price increments for clothing and footwear, with an increase of 2.9% down from 4.0%; restaurants and hotels, rising 7.8% compared to 11.4%; recreation and culture, going up 5.0% rather than 6.8%; and housing and utilities, at 2.2% compared to the previous 2.3%. On a month-to-month basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) climbed by 1.5%, indicating an acceleration from the 0.6% increase recorded in April.
