Mexico's automotive industry experienced a 2% decline in production in May 2025, with output totaling 358,209 vehicles. This follows a more significant drop of 9.1% in April, as the sector continues to grapple with the repercussions of U.S. trade tariff policies. Among the key automotive manufacturers, Mazda saw the largest reduction in output, plummeting by 34.1% to 12,230 units. Stellantis also faced a considerable decline of 25.8% to 30,843 vehicles, followed by Volkswagen with a 14.4% decrease to 28,929 units, Audi with a 19.9% fall to 14,000, and Honda down by 13.5% to 15,397 units. In contrast, Toyota experienced a notable increase of 15.7% to 27,454 vehicles, General Motors rose by 12.8% to 79,720, and KIA's production climbed by 7.7% to 25,300. For the cumulative period of the first five months of 2025, overall car production slightly decreased by 0.5%, amounting to 1,645,673 units.
