In May 2025, Mexico witnessed a 2.9% decline in car exports year-over-year, totaling 301,112 units. This decline follows a significant 10.9% drop in April, largely due to persistent challenges associated with US trade tariffs. Notably, export reductions were observed among several manufacturers: Mazda saw a steep drop of 63.1% to 3,435 units, Volkswagen decreased by 32.4% to 16,689 units, General Motors fell by 18.4% to 69,987 units, Audi declined by 10.3% to 15,519 units, and Stellantis decreased by 7.7% to 30,916 units. Conversely, Toyota experienced a substantial rise in exports by 29.6% to 28,410 units, along with increases for Hinda by 28.7% to 18,053 units and KIA by 15.2% to 19,492 units. Overall, car exports from January to May 2025 are down by 6.3%, totaling 1,334,667 units.
