Colombia Inflation Rate Hits Lowest Level Since 2021

In May 2025, Colombia's annual inflation rate decreased to 5.05% from 5.16% in April, coming in just under the anticipated 5.1%. This represents the lowest level since October 2021, signaling ongoing efforts to address price pressures. The reduction was mainly attributed to slower inflation in several major sectors: transportation (up 5.26% from the previous 5.29%), housing (5.82% compared to 6.09%), restaurants and hotels (7.41% down from 7.71%), and education (7.35% slightly down from 7.38%). Conversely, food prices saw a slight increase (up 4.71% from 4.61%), as did health-related costs (up 5.34% from 5.31%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices grew by 0.32%, which was lower than the expected 0.5% and represented the smallest monthly rise since November, following a 0.66% increase in April.
