In April 2025, household spending in Sweden experienced a month-over-month increase of 0.5%, reversing a downwardly revised decline of 0.1% observed in the preceding month. This rise in consumption was led by gains in several sub-categories: furniture, interior design items, household equipment, and consumables surged by 10.1% following a previous growth of 7.2%; spending on recreation, culture, goods, and services climbed to 9.9% compared to 9.2% earlier; and food and beverage expenditures increased by 3%, up from 1.4%. Spending on restaurants, cafes, hotels, and other accommodation services showed a modest recovery, increasing by 0.8% after a 1.5% decline. Conversely, spending growth slowed in the post and telecommunications sector, which recorded a 2.8% increase down from 5.9%, and further declined for other goods and services, dropping by 9.6% compared to a prior 6.2%. On an annual basis, household expenditure rose by 2.7% in April, following a downwardly revised increase of 1.4% in the previous month.
