The annual inflation rate in Belarus has surged to 7.1% year-on-year as of May 2025, marking the highest level since February 2023. This uptick is a noticeable increase from the 6.5% recorded in April. The primary contributors to this rise were the escalated costs of food, which jumped to 9.6% from 8.3% in the previous month, and services, which increased to 7.2% from 7.0%. Conversely, the inflation for non-food goods remained stable, maintaining an annual growth rate of 3.6%. On a month-to-month basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) edged up by 0.7%, a deceleration from the 1.0% growth observed in April.
