Visitor arrivals in New Zealand saw a significant increase of 18.8% compared to the previous year, totaling 267,300 in April 2025. Notable escalations in visitor numbers were observed from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Hong Kong, with increases of 33,800, 4,000, 3,300, and 1,600 respectively. Conversely, there was a decline of 1,100 in visitors from Indonesia. The substantial rise in Australian visitors can be attributed, in part, to the scheduling of school holidays and Easter. Nevertheless, despite the robust annual growth, the total number of arrivals in April 2025 remained 13% lower than pre-pandemic figures, achieving 87% of the 307,400 arrivals recorded in April 2019.
