In April 2025, Slovakia experienced a 2.7% decline in construction output compared to the same month the previous year, effectively reversing the 6.8% increase seen in March. This downturn is the first since October 2024 and is primarily attributed to a decrease in domestic production, which dropped by 5% in contrast to a 3.4% rise in March. Notably, key sectors such as repair and maintenance plummeted by 7.7%, down from a modest decline of 0.4% previously; new construction decreased by 5.5% following a 5.6% gain; building construction fell by 5.3%, compared to a minor decrease of 0.6% before; and engineering works saw a decline of 4.3%, a sharp contrast to the previous month's 15.3% growth. Additionally, the growth of construction output abroad decelerated significantly to 14.2%, down from 36.2% recorded in the preceding month.
