Kosovo Inflation Hits 8-Month High

Kosovo experienced an acceleration in its annual inflation rate to 3.6% in May 2025, up from 3% in the preceding month, marking the quickest increase since September 2023. This surge was largely attributed to significant hikes in electricity costs, which climbed to 10.2% from 8.2%, as well as in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 8.2% from 7%. Particularly noteworthy were the increases in the prices of meat, which jumped by 11.8%, fruits by 12.8%, oils and fats by 11.2%, and coffee, tea, and cocoa by 15.5%. Inflation rates also rose for housing and utilities, which saw a rise to 2.7% from 2.3%, and for the restaurant and hotel sector, edging up to 6.7% from 6.5%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.3%, following a prior increase of 0.2% in April.
