In May 2025, Russia's annual inflation rate declined for the second consecutive month, reaching 9.9%, the lowest in four months, compared to 10.2% in April. Nevertheless, it remains significantly higher than the central bank's target of 4%. The pace of price increases slowed for food items, notably fruits and vegetables, registering 12.5% compared to April's 12.7% and 19.8% versus 21.2% respectively. Service costs grew at a reduced rate of 12.6%, down from 12.8%, and non-food product prices increased by 4.8%, a decrease from 5.4%. Meanwhile, core inflation fell to a five-month low of 8.9% in May, down from 9.2% in April. On a monthly scale, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in May, maintaining the same growth rate as in the previous month.
