Romanian Industrial Output Falls at a Slower Pace

In April 2025, Romania experienced a 2.4% decrease in industrial production compared to the same month the previous year, a slight improvement from the 7.6% drop in March. This denotes the third consecutive month of declining industrial activity, albeit the mildest in the series. A significant recovery was observed in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sectors, witnessing a 3% increase compared to a decline of 1.9% in March. The manufacturing sector also saw a slower decline, with a decrease of 2.9% compared to the previous month's 9.3% drop. Conversely, the mining and quarrying sectors noted a contraction of 3.4%, following a growth of 0.8% in March. On a monthly basis, industrial output rose by 2.3% in April, rebounding from a 0.5% decrease in the previous month.
