In April 2025, Colombia experienced a 3.3% decrease in industrial production compared to the same month in the previous year, following a 1.6% growth in March. This decline represents the lowest point since September 2024 and surpassed market expectations, which had anticipated a 2.4% reduction. The manufacturing sector significantly contributed to this downturn, with both production volume and sales decreasing by 3.3%. Notably, there was a substantial downturn in the production of motorcycles and their engines, which plummeted by 51.1%, and in the production of parts and accessories for motor vehicles, which saw a decline of 25.0%. Conversely, there were notable increases in certain areas: the production of glass and related products surged by 17.2%, and the manufacture of other types of transport grew by 15.1%.
