Between January and May 2025, Kyrgyzstan experienced a GDP growth of 12.3%, an increase from the 11.7% reported in the initial four months of the year and a notable rise compared to the 8.1% growth seen in the corresponding period of 2024. This robust growth was largely fueled by a 13.8% increase in industrial production, which stood in stark contrast to the 2.6% growth recorded in the same timeframe the previous year. Key contributors to this surge included a remarkable 70% rise in the pharmaceutical sector, a 60% boost in food, beverage, and tobacco, and a 45.2% uptick in wood, paper products, and printing. Additionally, the rubber, plastics, and building materials sector expanded by 34.4%, refined petroleum products by 25.4%, and mineral extraction by 6.5%. The construction industry also demonstrated impressive growth at 48.3%, while wholesale and retail trade increased by 10.8%, and agriculture saw a 3.0% expansion.
