Thailand's exports experienced a notable surge of 18.4% in May 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year. This significant increase can be attributed to factories expediting shipments following President Trump's April announcement of a 90-day suspension on plans to implement a 36% tariff on Thai exports. This development marks the eleventh consecutive month of export growth, achieving the fastest rate since March 2022 and showing a sharp acceleration from the 10.2% growth observed in April. Cumulatively, for the first five months of 2025, exports rose by 14.9% compared to the corresponding period the prior year.
