Retail sales in South Africa saw a noteworthy increase of 5.1% in April 2025, compared to the same month last year, following a revised 1.2% boost in March. This represents the most significant growth since January, fueled largely by a 5.3% rise in sales from general dealers and a substantial 12.5% increase from retailers specializing in textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods. On a seasonally adjusted monthly scale, retail sales experienced a rebound of 0.9% in April, breaking a two-month streak of declines.
