In May 2025, mainland France witnessed a decrease in the number of registered unemployed individuals, dropping by 11,200 to a total of 3.002 million. This marks the lowest level of unemployment since December 2024. The most significant reduction was observed within the core working-age group, which decreased by 6,700 to 1.729 million. Additionally, unemployment figures for those aged over 50 fell by 6,000, reaching 795,600. Conversely, there was an increase in unemployment among individuals under 25, rising by 1,500 to 477,800. Comparatively, on a year-over-year basis, the total registered unemployed population increased by 188,900.
