In May 2025, the total value of outstanding loans in Brazil saw a 0.6% increase, reaching R$6.7 trillion and continuing its growth trend for the 17th straight month. This growth was predominantly driven by a 0.8% increase in corporate credit and a 0.4% rise in credit to households. When compared annually, overall credit surged by 11.8%. Corporate lending experienced a year-on-year growth of 10.9%, an uptick from April's 10.4%, while credit to households rose by 12.3%, which is slightly below the 12.7% observed in April.
