Ireland Inflation Rises to 1.6% in June

In June 2025, Ireland experienced a 1.6% increase in the EU-standard harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) compared to the previous year, showing an uptick from the 1.4% rise recorded in May, according to preliminary estimates. This inflation surge was largely attributed to a 4.3% annual increase in food prices, which continued to exert upward pressure on consumer costs. However, a 1.8% decrease in energy prices provided some relief. Concurrently, the core HICP—which excludes the more volatile sectors such as energy and unprocessed food—reported a 1.9% rise year-on-year, a slight increase from the 1.8% growth noted in May. Month-on-month, harmonized consumer prices rose by 0.5% in June, recovering from the stagnant growth observed in the previous month.
