Austria Inflation Hits Over 1-Year Peak

Austria's annual inflation rate ascended to 3.3% in June 2025, reaching its highest point since May of the preceding year, up from 3% in the prior month, according to preliminary estimates. "The rise is primarily attributed to the energy sector, experiencing a 3.5% increase, as the impact of fuel prices was significantly less dampening than in recent times. Additionally, prices for food, tobacco, and alcohol exhibited more dynamic growth compared to the previous month, with an uptick of 4.4%. Nonetheless, services, which expanded at a steady rate of 4.3%, exerted the most substantial influence on inflation. Meanwhile, industrial goods experienced a modest increase of 0.9%. Core inflation, which encompasses the combined industrial goods and services, registered at 3.1%," stated Thomas Burg, Director General of Statistics Austria. On a monthly scale, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in June, recovering from a 0.1% decrease in the preceding period.
