European Stocks Slightly Higher

On Tuesday, the STOXX 50 and STOXX 600 indices experienced a slight increase of 0.1%, as investors kept a close watch on trade discussions with the United States, ahead of the impending July 9th deadline for reciprocal tariffs. According to Bloomberg, the European Union is open to negotiating a deal that involves a 10% universal tariff on many of its exports, while simultaneously seeking concessions from the US in critical areas such as pharmaceuticals, alcohol, semiconductors, and commercial aircraft. It has been reported that the EU's trade chief is expected to lead a delegation to Washington this week to further these talks. On the economic data front, early indicators are anticipated to reveal that Eurozone inflation aligned with the European Central Bank's (ECB) 2% target in June. In parallel, ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane announced that the recent cycle of monetary tightening by the central bank has reached its conclusion. In corporate news, SAP saw an increase of 0.6%, Nestle rose by 0.2%, and LVMH advanced by 0.7%. Conversely, Hermes fell by 0.7%, ASML Holding declined by 0.5%, and Novo Nordisk also decreased by 0.5%.
