The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, a key indicator of shipping rates for vessels carrying dry commodities, declined for the sixth straight session on Wednesday, decreasing by approximately 1% to its lowest point since June 3 at 1,443 points. The drop was primarily influenced by the larger vessel categories. The capesize index, which is associated with the transportation of 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, decreased for the 12th consecutive day, falling 2.6% to an over one-month low of 1,958 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, typically used for shipping 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 8 points or 0.5%, reaching 1,492 points. In contrast, the supramax index experienced a rise, gaining 13 points to settle at 1,031 points.
