Japan Services PMI Revised Upward

In June 2025, the au Jibun Bank Japan Services PMI was adjusted upward to 51.7, an improvement from the preliminary estimate of 51.5 and surpassing the final May figure of 51.0. This signifies a third consecutive month of growth in the services sector, driven by a quicker increase in new orders and a slight uptick in overseas sales, despite it being the slowest growth observed so far in 2025. Companies continued to bolster their workforce and accumulated work backlogs. Although the increase in employment was modest, it was the most significant rise since January. On the pricing side, the inflation of input costs decreased to its lowest level in six months. Concurrently, output prices went up as businesses transferred expenses to their clients, marking the steepest increase in 14 months. Looking forward, business optimism reached a four-month high, surpassing the series average, fueled by expectations of increased activity, workforce expansion, and the introduction of new products.
