In June 2025, Georgia experienced an acceleration in its annual inflation rate, reaching 4% up from 3.5% in May. This is the highest figure noted since March 2023. The increased inflation can be attributed to a faster rise in prices for several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages surged to 10.1% from 8.3% in May, alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose to 4.6% from 3.3%, housing and utilities increased to 1.0% from 0.6%, health costs went up to 9.4% from 9.0%, and miscellaneous goods and services climbed to 6.7% from 5.9%. However, prices remained steady for restaurants and hotels at 6.0%. Additionally, the decline in costs for furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance slowed to -1.4% from -2.3%. Conversely, prices dropped for clothing and footwear by -0.8% compared to May's 0.8% increase, while deflation persisted in transport (-5.3% from -4.5%), communication (-13% from -12.8%), and recreation and culture (-0.5% from -0.4%). On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices remained unchanged in June following a 0.4% increase in May.
