In June 2025, consumer prices in Cyprus experienced a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%, following a 0.2% reduction in the previous month. This represented the second month in a row of deflation and the most significant drop in consumer prices since March 2021. Notable declines were observed in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which fell by 0.9% compared to a 2.0% increase in May. Similarly, housing and utilities experienced a drop of 2.2%, steeper than the previous month's decline of 1.5%. The category of furnishings, household equipment, and supplies also saw a reduction of 0.9%, compared to a 0.5% decrease in May. Conversely, prices increased in certain sectors: alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 1.0% compared to 0.9% previously, recreation and culture climbed by 5.1% up from 4%, and restaurants and hotels saw an increase of 5.5% from 4.9%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in June, counteracting the 0.2% increase seen in May.
