China has announced the imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on European brandy, with a significant focus on French cognac, effective for a period of five years commencing July 5. This decision follows an extensive investigation conducted over the past year. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Commerce, the inquiry concluded that there is dumping of certain imported brandies from the European Union, leading to a threat of material injury. The identified dumping margins span from 27.7% to 34.9%. This latest move is set against the backdrop of increasing trade tensions between China and the EU and is largely interpreted as a retaliatory action within the ongoing trade conflict.
