In May 2025, Slovenia's trade deficit significantly decreased to EUR 153.4 million, compared to the substantial EUR 615.6 million deficit recorded in the same month of the previous year. This improvement was attributed to a rise in exports coupled with a decline in imports. Export activities rose by 5.6% year-on-year, reaching EUR 5,358.2 million. This growth was predominantly fueled by a robust 14% increase in shipments to non-EU nations, despite a 2.2% decline in sales to EU countries. Conversely, imports experienced a 3.1% decline, totaling EUR 5,511.6 million, marked by reduced procurement from both EU (-1%) and non-EU countries (-5.2%). Over the first five months of the year, Slovenia achieved a trade surplus amounting to EUR 2,447.7 million.
