Estonia Inflation Rate at 4-Month High

In June 2025, Estonia experienced an increase in its annual inflation rate, climbing to 5% from 4.5% noted in both of the previous two months. This represents the highest inflation rate recorded since February 2025. The surge was driven by accelerated price increases across several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 8.4% compared to 7.1% in May, household goods saw a rise of 3.1% over the previous 1.6%, transport costs went up to 7.5% from 6.2%, recreation and culture leapt to 7.4% from 4.9%, and the costs associated with hotels, cafés, and restaurants escalated to 8.7% from 4.9%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in inflation noted for alcohol and tobacco (2.9% down from 3.2%), communications (0.7% from 1.6%), education (2.2% from 2.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.2% down from 5.9%). Additionally, housing prices saw a decline, registering at -0.6% after a previous rise of 2.1%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices increased by 0.9% in June, following a modest 0.1% increase in the preceding period.
