In May 2025, Norway's manufacturing production experienced a 1.7% decrease from the previous month, following a slightly revised 2.9% increase in April. This decline was primarily due to notable reductions in nearly all major sectors. Particularly affected were the ship, boat, and oil sectors, which fell by 4.5% compared to an 8.4% rise in April. Similarly, rubber, plastic, and mineral products saw a 4.6% decline, contrasting with a 3.8% increase previously. The printing and reproduction sector also decreased by 2.7% after a 4.6% gain. Conversely, production for textiles, wearing apparel, and leather exhibited growth, rising by 1.3% after a 1.5% decline. The rates of decline for wood, wood products, and basic metals slowed to 1.5% and 1.2% from 4.5% and 3.3%, respectively. Annually, manufacturing output increased by 5.7% in May, a slowdown from the record-high 10.3% rise observed in the previous period.
