Latvia Inflation Rate Edges Up to 3.8% in June

In June 2025, the annual inflation rate in Latvia increased to 3.8% from 3.6% recorded in May. This rise was largely attributed to more pronounced price increases in several sectors: housing and utilities saw a rise to 3.3% from 3.2%, healthcare costs surged to 3.9% from 3.7%, and clothing and footwear experienced an increase to 1.4% from 0.7%. Miscellaneous goods and services also witnessed a notable jump to 4.0% from 0.7%. Conversely, the rate of decline in transportation costs eased, moving from -4.2% to -1.3%. These escalations were somewhat balanced by a deceleration in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, which grew at a slower rate of 6.3% compared to 7.5% previously, and by a reduced pace in the pricing of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.5% down from 7.3%), as well as in recreation and culture (4.6% down from 5.2%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a slight uptick of 0.1%, contrasting with the 0.1% decrease recorded in May.
