Baltic Dry Index Eases to Over 1-Month Low

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, an indicator measuring rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, decreased by approximately 0.4%, reaching its lowest point since June 3, at 1,431 points as of Tuesday. This downturn was primarily influenced by the larger vessel segment. Specifically, the capesize index—which primarily deals with 150,000-ton cargoes, including goods like iron ore and coal—experienced its 16th consecutive day of decline, falling around 4.1% to 1,751 points. In contrast, the panamax index, typically associated with cargoes of 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, climbed by 2.5%, reaching its peak level since last August at 1,569 points. Additionally, the supramax index increased by 2.3% to 1,125 points.
