Norway Producer Prices Drop for 2nd Month

In June 2025, Norway witnessed a 1% decrease in producer prices compared to the previous year, extending the deflationary trend from the 0.1% decline observed in May. This marked the second consecutive month of deflation, influenced by reduced prices in energy goods, which fell by 5.4% compared to a 3.9% decrease in the preceding month, and a downturn in the extraction of oil and natural gas, showing a 6.6% drop following a 7.5% fall. Furthermore, the price increase for electricity, gas, and steam experienced a notable slowdown, registering a growth of 12.9% compared to 40.2% previously. Conversely, there was a rise in manufacturing costs, which increased by 1.8%, up from 1.6% in May. When excluding energy goods, producer prices climbed by 2.8% in June, maintaining the same rate as the previous month. On a monthly comparison, the Producer Price Index (PPI) decreased by 0.3%, an improvement from the 3% decline recorded in May.
