Car sales in Indonesia experienced a significant decrease of 22.6% year-on-year, with only 57,752 units sold in June 2025, following a 15.1% decline in May, as reported by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). This marks the second consecutive month of declining sales, highlighting emerging concerns within the nation's automotive industry due to worsening economic sentiment and increasing market challenges. Despite these setbacks, GAIKINDO remains optimistic about future growth, setting a 2025 sales target ranging from 750,000 to 900,000 vehicles. This goal exceeds both the revised forecast of 850,000 units for 2024 and the 865,723 vehicles sold in the previous year. On a month-to-month basis, car sales in June 2025 dropped by 4.7%, following an 18.4% increase in the preceding month.
