In May 2025, Bulgaria's construction output experienced a year-on-year increase of 5.1%, a slowdown compared to the revised 6.9% growth observed the previous month. This represents the slowest growth rate since September 2024, largely due to a significant reduction in specialized construction activities, which grew by only 4.5% as opposed to 10.5% in April. Nonetheless, both building construction and civil engineering works sustained their growth trajectories, demonstrating increases of 3.1% (up from 2.9%) and 9.3% (up from 8.4%), respectively. Seasonally adjusted, construction output fell by 0.5% month-on-month in May, following a 0.7% decline in April.
