In May 2025, Cyprus experienced a reduction in its trade deficit, bringing it down to EUR 682.1 million from EUR 716.4 million recorded in May of the previous year. This improvement was primarily due to a 5.5% decrease in total imports, which amounted to EUR 1,001.8 million. The decline in imports was observed both from non-EU countries, which saw a 5.9% reduction, and EU countries, with a 5.2% fall. On the export front, there was a 7% decline, reaching EUR 319.7 million, largely driven by a significant 15.7% decrease in exports to non-EU nations. However, this was offset by a robust 16.1% increase in exports to EU countries.
