The Netherlands experienced an expansion in its trade surplus in May 2025, reaching EUR 10.54 billion, compared to EUR 10.37 billion in May of the previous year. This was influenced by a 1.8% annual increase in exports, totaling EUR 67.12 billion. The rise in exports was supported by a 0.4% growth in sales to EU countries, which effectively counterbalanced a 5% decrease in shipments to non-EU countries. Meanwhile, imports saw a decline of 2.4%, amounting to EUR 56.58 billion, with reductions observed in purchases from both EU countries (-0.5%) and non-EU countries (-4.1%).
