Montenegro Inflation Rate Hit Over 1-Year High

In June 2025, Montenegro's annual inflation rate climbed to 4.2%, up from 3.9% the previous month, marking its highest level since May 2024. Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose more sharply at 5.0% compared to 4.2% in May. Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels saw a slight increase in inflation to 6.2% from 6.1%, while recreation and culture experienced an uptick to 7.3% from 7.0%. Education costs held steady with no change at 0.9%, and the decline in transport costs eased to -1.4% from a previous -3.2%. Elsewhere, inflation moderated in sectors like alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.8% from 6.1%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance (4.8% from 5.8%), health (13.2% from 13.5%), communication (1.6% from 1.7%), and restaurants and hotels (9.0% from 10.1%). There was a continued decline in clothing and footwear prices, dropping to -3.5% from -1.8%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a slight decrease, settling at 0.4% in June from 0.6% the previous month.
